The Real Origin of the Rolling Stones' "Hot Lips" logo
A lot of our friends have gone to see The Rolling Stones on their recent concert tours. But not us! No, it's not that they're old or because of the high price tickets, or that Charlie's gone and Bill quit the band or that Brian's dead... It's all about the long standing feud between Jagger and Kooper - no not Al Kooper who played organ on "You Can't Always Get What You Want,"
but our puggle, named for the great keyboardist. To this day, Jagger, of course, claims he was the inspiration for the Stones' "Hot Lips" logo.
Designer Jon Pasche (who was only paid £50 for the original, which was recently sold to a London museum for $92,500) said he was actually inspired by the mouth of the Hindu goddess Kali.
But that was just his way of avoiding having to pay Kooper for her £50 modeling fee, which would have left him with nothing. And don't deny it Pasche, I remember the day you fell head over heels for Kooper when you saw us walking her in Hyde Park.
Recently settled in a court of law (in London, where they wear those funny little wigs) Kooper was awarded a whopping 5% of every image sold - So go ahead and buy as much Stones' merch as you please - t-shirts, decals, earrings - whatever... As Kooper's caretakers she has granted us a generous allowance, and we've been living it up Pell Mell ever since the ruling. Rock On!
